Accidents happen

Wednesday night was a very eventful night for us. I was helping Sean do something on the computer and we heard Brayden smash into the wall SO hard and then scream. He is by far the toughest little guy and is usually comforted by me and then goes on with his business, but this was not one of those times. He continued to cry and when he moved he would scream. He quieted down for a second and pulled me by the hand into the family room so that I could fix his barn for him. It made me so sad that, that was all he wanted and he ended up being so hurt. We took his shirt off and could see where a bump and bruise were starting to form. He dragged me into the bathroom crying and asking for some medicine. When I gave him the medicine he pulled himself up to the sink to get a drink, which he does all the time, and he screamed. I quickly put some jeans on and started the car. While I was putting my shoes on the little turkey decided to try to climb one of the bar chairs and screamed because that hurt. I knew something was really wrong at that point.

Sean and I loaded the kids into the car and we only put Brayden's right are through the car seat because he was carrying his left and didn't want to move it. It was a long ride to urgent care but we have a new childrens express urgent care and it was such a wonderful experience. They got us in right away and the x-ray technician was there before the doctor could finish explaining everything. I took Brayden back and Sean and Hunter waited in the room for us. Brayden was as usual a curious little guy in the x-ray room and was fascinated by all the cool machines. When the technician told him he was going to take his picture Brayden said, "cheese" and we both laughed. I then explained to him that we were taking pictures of his bones and he asked if it was like the dinosaurs. I told him that it was kind of like the dinosaur bones and then he was off asking about the machines and showing me the light on the ceiling for fires. They were very impressed with how he was handling it and how curious he was about everything. I then went in to see the x-ray on the computer and as soon as it loaded I could see the break. My little 2 year old had broken his collar bone.

They gave us a sling for his arm and an ace bandage to wrap it close to his body for comfort and that is how we have been for the last 48 hours. The last 2 nights have been eventful and Brayden and I haven't gotten the best sleep but we have slept some. We went to see our doctor yesterday to make sure we are doing what we can to make him comfortable and to find out how best to help him not hurt himself. He has had to learn pretty quickly that he has to ask for help and this has been hard for him because he likes being independent and doing things for himself.

Brayden told me last night that his arm was "all better", then he told me he wanted to jump. He's my crazy, busy little daredevil and Sean and I knew this quite early with him. Hunter has been our mellower child while Brayden was in the emergency room at 1 for possible stitches and now at 2 for a broken bone. Oh boy, oh boy he is definitely all boy! Now I just wonder what the ages of 3, 4 and 5 are gonna bring with this busy guy :)
